Maintaining its popularity, Pix broke a new record this Friday (5), with more than 120 million transactions. According to information recorded by the Central Bank, the amount settled that day surpassed the R$ 68 million mark. The surprising numbers came just over a week before Mother’s Day, a commemorative date on which Brazilians tend to spend a lot.
Recorde represents how Brazilians came to prefer this form of payment; the number of registered keys has also increased exponentially
In exact numbers, on May 5 alone, 124,322,983 transactions were carried out through Pix. In other words, this is the highest record ever recorded by the payments system since its introduction in 2019.
This sum is slightly higher than the daily average, which almost never reaches 110 million, for example. By way of comparison, during the month of April 2023, the largest number of financial operations in this modality was carried out on the 10th, with 105,667,115.
In addition, this total represents the growth of the system in recent years. At the time of Mother’s Day 2022, the record was also broken, but Pix reached 73 million transactions, something completely surpassed this time.
The Brazilian took control of Pix as his main means of payment
With the record reached, Pix also stood out in terms of financing, reaching BRL 68,372,024. However, in the last 30 days, these numbers were lower than those recorded on April 10 of that year, when the payment system reached BRL 69,849,967 in settled amounts.
According to data from the Central Bank, Brazilians use the platform more at lunchtime, around 12 pm, and after work, after 6 pm.
Due to the constant increase in the number of people who prefer Pix, means such as bank slips and credit and debit cards are losing space in everyday life.
At the end of April 2023 there were a total of 601,588,145 registered keys. Random keys are still preferred by users, followed by CPF, cell phone number, email address and, lastly, CNPJ.
It should be noted that all data can be found on the official website of the Central Bank and is freely accessible to anyone who wants to verify the information. The institution periodically updates the website, providing transparency in this regard.
