Developed at least since 2021, it’s no news that Microsoft is working on a game streaming device that will allow users to enjoy themselves via xCloud , without the need for another product.
The novelty is highly anticipated, as, so far, it is still necessary to have a computer or a state-of-the-art smart TV compatible with the Xbox TV app to play via the cloud. The update on this story is that the company is still working on the model and Phill Spencer, head of Xbox, revealed the image of the first prototype by posting a photo on his Twitter. See below:
Codenamed Keystone , the device is shaped like a DVD player with a small port for an unidentified connection. It is not yet known what resolution the device will deliver; video streaming apps such as Netflix and Disney+ are speculated to be available at launch.
Sources linked to Microsoft have already informed that it is likely that the company is still working on the product and the image posted by Phill Spencer is a first version that ended up being used as a decoration item. The most interesting thing is that the official Xbox profile on Twitter responded to the head of Xbox confirming. Look:
“Now, what did we say about putting old prototypes on your shelf, boss?”

Microsoft wants to change the industry with game streaming device
2022 was a year of changes for the creator of Xbox consoles and in addition to the purchase of Activision Blizzard for US$ 70 billion , the company closed a partnership with Samsung for the launch of an application that took the name of Xbox TV . In practice, it is enough for the user to log in to his smart TV account and start playing in the same way as he would on a computer, all done by the cloud and 1080p quality at up to 60fps.
This render , which imagines the product according to the leaks, helps to have a visual perception of the device:
In a very ambitious proposal, the game streaming project will allow people to use Xbox Game Pass on any device with an HDMI input , regardless of whether it is smart or not. In practice, it’s as if the vast library of games from the best game subscription service today can be carried in your backpack. All you need is an active account and stable internet. We already talked more about the device in a May 2022 article , be sure to check it out.
Our vision for Xbox Cloud Gaming is unwavering, our goal is to enable people to play the games they want, on the devices they want, anywhere they want. As announced last year, we are working on a game streaming device, codenamed Keystone, that can be connected to any TV or monitor without the need for a console.

Microsoft has not commented publicly on the photo posted by Phill Spencer , but one thing is for sure: the game streaming device is still in development and should be released by the end of 2024.
